Innovative Research

The Mayfield Education & Research Foundation has provided seed funding for research to academic medical centers and university researchers. Grantees included medical school residents, PhD researchers and practicing surgeons. Seed funding grants from Mayfield have shown to be successful. Mayfield grantees have secured over $9,000,000 in federal funding from Mayfield Foundation grantees from 2013-2018.

With such outcomes, the Mayfield Foundation termed such grants, Spark Grants in that they spark a large bonfire of success. When grantees apply for funding, they must articulate how they plan to use Mayfield money to obtain larger federal grants.
