We welcome you to our online community, a virtual support group for people who are striving to live happily, healthfully, and well, even when confronted with difficulty.
The World Health Organization defines wellness as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
While this might describe an optimal state of being, very few people can claim this ideal—even those not faced with a chronic or acute condition. We contend that one can achieve a state of well-being even when staring disease or infirmity in the face. Not only that, we believe that such challenges can make us stronger and more appreciative of the one life we each have to live.
To that end, we look instead to Hippocrates, the “father of medicine.” In about 400 BC he suggested: “It is far more important to know what sort of person has the disease than what sort of disease the person has.”
We are the sort of people who seek good health, no matter what might stand in our way.
Here we tell our stories. We share our wisdom. We share resources. We are building a community of wellness and inspiration, a virtual support group that welcomes anyone and everyone who wants to be well—whether having suffered acute trauma or grappling with chronic pain or disability. We also welcome those who just want to take some small first steps toward achieving health and wellness, who wish to live a fuller and more active life, who seek to prevent or minimize injury or disease.
We offer inspiration from real-life, everyday heroes. People who are taking each day one step at a time, in some cases quite literally. Based in the United States, in Cincinnati, we are a local resource, but one that is global, because we are all humans and we all suffer pain. But together we can also seek and share and celebrate good health and wellness.
